As the steel snapped shut you wondered what would become of you. Fortunately, this trap belonged to one of those humans more interested in convenience than cruelty. After what felt like an eternity you found yourself unceremoniously tipped out of the cage into an unknown landscape, and abandoned with the well-intentioned warning of “Now don’t come back!”

‘Don’t come back’ indeed... Whilst the way home might be difficult, any mouse with a family would never dream of leaving them. After the nausea settled you got to your feet and felt the surroundings with your whiskers. Trusting your homing instinct you begin to walk...

You are a mouse who has been separated from your family by a terrifying event. The world is a big place and you just want to find your way home.

The Way Home is a journaling game played with a map. At the start of the game you will choose a random starting location and try to find your way home. The actual location of your home is unknown to you, but when you find it then you’ll know. Play to find out!

About this version

This game was made for the Minimalist TTRPG Jam 2 and, as such, is very minimal in presentation! If folk like it then I'll make a nicer version. I hope you have fun playing!
